Blackpink comes out with their first song as a group in almost 3 years, "Jump". They have also signed into a new distribution partnership with The Orchard. The song was debuted as the opener of their world tour. My Opinion: tbh.. is being a group evven the best thing for them? I mean Jennie is eating up acting, Lisa has Alter Ego, Rose has APT, and even though it was a while ago, Jisoo has Flower (which is still one of my favorite songs and dances I love the hand choreo) buuuut I hope that they can produce more while still keeping up with their solo works.
I am vey good at being up to date haha.. right.. ANYWAY TXT's Tayhun, LE SSERAFIM's Chaewon, and JVKE released "Butterflies". It has that same beautiful piano that all of JVKE's songs have with beautiful lyrics. Tayhun said when asked about the song, "I think this song is a perfect fit for all three of us! I hope that [our fans] all enjoy it. I look forward to the day we can all perform it live together." My Opinion: The song is beeeautiful. Even though some of his songs get super overplayed, JVKE's music has a consistent and wowing sound and quality to it.
Not much news today in kpop :/ one small thing is that the kpop demon hunters soundtrack is bearking records. In my opinion, hopefully this means that kpop execs will get the hint that we LOVE new kpop, but we wouldn't mind that old Astro BTS and Blackpink sound back.
Hyunjin's solo song debuts on multiple UK charts. It's his first time appearing on a chart without stray kids by his side. The song "Always Love" came out on June 27th... this isn't old news right guys!! I'm sooo timely..My Opinion: I'm very happy for him. As a Stay myself, the promotion for his first solo song with Troye Sivan felt very gimmicky. Troye posting a stolen edit of him and asking how to get in contact with him, obviously baiting stays was very offputting. The oddest part about it was that hyunjin had like two lines, while pink pantheress had a whole verse??? The promotion for this song felt a lot more like a genuine promotion about a song he actually cared about, not just something his label told him to do.
TXT is starting their 4th tour, "Act : Tomorrow" in September. They will be across the US in San Jose, Los Angeles, Dallas, Rosemont, Atlanta, Washington DC, and Newark My Opinion: I'm happy to see the boys on tour! I wish they would go to more countries, and if not at least more stops in the US. Cali gets two stops meanwhile they barely graze the south in Atlanta? And only one stop in the middle of the county? Also, I know it's a different stadium but after the trainwreck in Atlanta for SKZ.. I don't know if that is a better stop compared to Orlando or Jacksonville.
Jimin's single "Who" reaches 50 weeks on both Billboard's Global 200 and Global Excl.'s US chart. This makes him the first asian artist to ever have two songs hit 50 weeks on both charts. My Opinion: This is awesome! I'm not an Army but I'm am soooo proud of him. Fun-fact : there's a website that says the song that was #1 on your 14th birthday is the song that defines your life and I got "Like Crazy" it was one of my most listened to songs when I found out it's sooo good!!
Twice releases their ablum "This is For" as they hit 10 years of performing. There is already another album, "Enemy", scheduled to release next month, although it is a Japanese release, so from my experience with JYP Japanese releases, they are generally pretty light. Hopefully they prove me wrong!! My Opinion: I'm so happy for this new album. I've only had a chance to listen to the title track, but it was AMAZING. But also.. LET THE GIRLS RESTTTTT Nayeon said that they started this album at the begining of 2025.. THATS 9 SONGS IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. And they're taking off on a new tour.. LET THEM REST
